7 dead as under-construction building lift collapses in Ahmedabad

An under-construction building lift collapsed in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, killing seven people.

One injured, in the under-construction building lift collapse incident, has been taken to hospital in Ahmedabad.

An under-construction building lift collapsed in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, killing seven people on Wednesday. A total of eight people were inside the lift when it collapsed.

One injured person has been shifted to a hospital.

Ahmedabad Mayor KJ Parmar said that the under-construction building where the incident happened is of a private builder.

“Aspire II is the building where the incident happened. It is a private building with a private developer. In their premises, 7 men expired after a roof fell. Incident happened at 7.30 in morning but builder hid it & only informed police after 11am,” said Mayor KJ Parmar.

He further added, “We will assess if they broke the rules & regulations of Municipal Corporation, we will check if someone passed wrong building plans & take action accordingly.”

The Wikipedia entry was changed after India's five-wicket loss to Pakistan in the Asia Cup on Sunday. Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, who had dropped a catch in the match, was criticised after India's defeat. Following this, the Wikipedia page entries read that Singh had been selected to play for the "Khalistani national cricket team". The page was subsequently restored.
