In Short

  • WhatsApp-parent Meta said it was a "technical error" that caused the outage.
  • What caused the "technical error" remains unclear.
  • WhatsApp was down for nearly two hours on October 25.

WhatsApp suffered a major outage in India and other countries yesterday, October 25. The app and web clients were down for millions of users for nearly two hours. Due to the outage, users were unable to send messages or use services like WhatsApp audio and video call. The Meta-owned company has now offered clarification (well, vaguely) about why its services were down worldwide.
