West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has said that she will fight the 2024 Lok Sabha polls together with Nitish Kumar, Hemant Soren and other opposition leaders.
“We will unite. Nitish, Akhilesh, Hemant, we are all there. Politics is a battlefield. We have fought for 34 years,” she said.
Referring to the Jharkhand political crisis, she said, “They (BJP) were selling off Jharkhand. We saved Jharkhand and got MLAs arrested."
Referring to TMC leader Anubrata Mondal’s arrest by the CBI over the alleged cattle smuggling case, she said, “Anubrata was picked up. You think you will win two seats of Birbhum by doing this? Leaders of Birbhum will fight manifold till Anubrata gets out. Anubrata Mandal will come out of the jail like a braveheart.”
"They feel that arrest big leaders, workers will get frightened," she added.
ON BOSE STATUE
Commenting on the inauguration of the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at the revamped Central Vista Avenue in New Delhi, she said, “One undersecretary wrote to me that the PM will inaugurate the statue of Netaji at 7pm and you should be there by 6 pm.”
“Am I a bonded labourer? Can an undersecretary write to the CM?” she asked.
“I went to the statue of Netaji at Red Road now and paid my tributes,” she said.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s statue is being installed in the same place where his hologram statue was unveiled earlier this year on Parakram Diwas, January 23 (Netaji’s birthday), by PM Modi. Made of granite, the statue is a fitting tribute to Netaji’s immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
The 28-foot-tall structure has been carved from a monolithic granite stone and it weighs around 65 metric tonnes.
